ICC Champions Trophy Winners Lists
After the successful world cups till 1997 the ICC decided to start the Mini World Cup that is now known as ICC Champions Trophy.
One of the main reasons for starting the ICC Champions Trophy is to raise funds for the nations that don’t have testing status that’s why the first two editions were played in Bangladesh and Kenya. After the successful first two editions, ICC decided to move it towards major cricket nations like England and India.
In 2009, ICC decided that only top eight ODI teams will qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy. After this decision in 2009, 2013 and 2017 editions only the top eight ODI teams played and compete for the trophy.

After the 2017 edition, ICC announced that they will only focus on World Cups of all three formats but in 2021 good news comes for cricket fans that the ICC Champions Trophy is going to start again. This news started a new chapter in cricket history. ICC announced that the 2025 Edition will be played on the grounds of Pakistan and 2029 edition rights were given to India.
